SDP's Code of Conduct

• Members of THE SDP shall always, in words and deeds, struggle for a humane society based on social justice and equality without any form of exploitation or oppression of person by person.

• Members of THE SDP shall at all times, in words and deeds, uphold the spirit internationalism of comradeship, unity and solidarity among all the working and oppressed people of the world.

• Members of THE SDP shall at all times and everywhere bear true allegiance and project a positive image of the party, its policies and ideology. They shall strive to study, understand and propagate the manifesto, constitution and all policies of the party.

• Members of THE SDP shall strive at all times to educate themselves, their families and other members about progressive and revolutionary ideas, socialism.

• Members of THE SDP shall work hard at all times to disseminate progressive, revolutionary and socialist ideas in the country and the world.

• Members of THE SDP shall everywhere and at all times, in words and deeds, identify with the cause of the liberation of the marginalised, exploited and oppressed people and all just struggles.

• Members of THE SDP shall not practise, advocate or tolerate tribalism, racism, sexism, nepotism, cronyism, xenophobia or any form of discrimination against other persons.

• Members of THE SDP shall always and tirelessly fight against corruption and all its manifestations; they shall be guardians of justice and custodians of public property and living examples of patriotism and socialist morality.

• Members of THE SDP shall not deceive the people with false promises, populism, and cheap propaganda or buy their support with money or things.

• Members of THE SDP shall tell the truth to each other, even when it is uncomfortable to do so, i.e., they shall engage in self-criticism and constructive criticism of other members, the party and its leadership.

• Members of THE SDP shall not falsely accuse or bear false witness against each other or other persons; they shall be paragons of truth and honesty.

• Members of THE SDP shall promote the spirit of mutual respect, tolerance, friendship and comradeship with one another and will not conduct themselves in a manner inimical to the unity and progress of the party.

• All members of THE SDP organs shall be bound, whilst members of those organs, to the principles of Democratic Centralism, i.e., internal democracy with collective discipline and responsibility.

• Members of THE SDP shall carry out party assignments efficiently, promptly and in a transparent and accountable manner.

• Members of THE SDP shall not reveal the secrets of the party to non members even after they leave the party. They shall not talk to non members or the press about the internal affairs of the party other than the party’s target image, media strategy and issues which it has been agreed can be discussed.

• Members of THE SDP shall avoid any conduct at public, social and personal level, which is likely to embarrass or compromise the ideology, image, aims and objectives of the party and its members.
